I have to admit I’m no longer a night owl. When I was younger I had no problem staying up late, but now I like being in my jammies by 8 pm — at the latest. My dogs are homebodies as well and have their own little routines before they let me know they’re ready to hit the hay.
Echo the Golden Retriever makes no bones about when it’s time for lights out, even if there’s company in the house.
In the TikTok from @echogoldenbear, the precious pooch walked into the room covered in a blanket and carrying a stuffed animal in his mouth. Echo was clearly trying to send a message to his family’s visitors.
“My dog coming to remind our guests that it is 9pm and lights better be out because he has a strict bedtime routine,” the onscreen text explained.
Echo must have started feeling drowsy, which told him it was time for bed. He took it upon himself to tell people to leave in a straightforward manner. He sat down and gave a stare that seemed to say, “I’ll show you out.” The determined dog dropped the toy from his mouth to emphasize his directive.
“He’s serious about bedtime,” the caption added.
It’s hard to tell if Echo’s tactics worked but he probably persisted in making his point until he cleared the room.
Followers Shared Their Fur Babies’ Bedtime Routines
Viewers got a kick out of Echo’s blunt style and related stories of their own pets wanting to catch some Zs.
“Had a dog that would go sit by the front door and quietly bark when he thought guests should leave,” one remarked.

“9 pm? So he likes to party I see. Our pups are at the bedroom door by 7:45,” another commented.
“My dog has a stuffed bat and at 9 pm here he comes with it,” a follower shared.
“I had an Italian greyhound that used to do this with her bedtime toy. It was adorable,” someone noted.
Echo definitely has his priorities straight and sleep is at the top of his list!
