Golden Retriever Gives ‘Bah Humbug’ Vibes When His Toys Are Moved for Christmas Tree

My dogs like structure and routine. My Doxie and Pug mix are used to breakfast, dinner, walks, and treats on a schedule. They count on their toys and water dish always being in the same spot. But because we have a small home, things have to get rearranged this time of year to make room for our Christmas tree. Needless to say, this change totally throws my fur babies off rhythm and they let me know they’re not happy.

Maverick the Golden Retriever appears to be a fan of order as well. He had a bone to pick with his mom when he discovered his toys were moved for this year’s Christmas tree.

In the TikTok from @maverickthegolden, the precious pooch stared at his mom with a look of betrayal on his face. She immediately knew why he was miffed.

“Your toys have temporarily been relocated,” his mom told him. “Come in here and I’ll show you why.”

The camera panned to Maverick’s toys piled in a corner. Maverick had an expression on his face that seemed to say, “I never approved this”. His mom tried to explain why they had to rearrange some things.

“We put the Christmas tree up, so I had to move the table to where your toys are,” she said, though Maverick wasn’t buying it. He clearly didn’t understand why his life had to be turned upside down for a tree.

The Golden went into Grinch mode and gave off a ‘bah humbug’ air from down the hall. Maverick refused to even enter the decorated room.

Maverick’s Mom Tried to Negotiate

The fur baby’s mom empathized with his frustration and suggested a compromise.

“You want your corner back,” she validated. “You don’t like the tree?… Look, I’ll help you bring some back. They can still come in this room.”

Mav’s mom brought a toy or two into the room but the pooch still wasn’t appeased. She even showed him how the tree was decorated with several picture of himself, but he remained unmoved.

“You’re really hard to win over this weekend,” she remarked.

She called him over and gave him a hug, which seemed to ease the tension. Maybe she can buy Maverick some extra toys for Christmas and keep them in their properly appointed place from now on.
