Try as we might to pick out the perfect toys for our pets, it can be hard to determine what they’re going to attach themselves to — or if that object is even going to end up being a toy in the first place. Sometimes, dogs will choose an object to be their favorite that we never would have guessed, like a cardboard box… or in the case of the dog in the video below, a concrete block.
Yes, you read that right: the Belgian Malinois mix in the video below can’t get enough of his concrete block, and his mom is wondering how she’s ever going to explain that fun fact to anyone who cares for him.
In this video shared by @emilyyheide on TikTok, she wrote, “How do I explain to a dog sitter that he begs to do this every day and no other activity/toy will suffice?”
The footage shows her pup wrestling the concrete block all over the yard, and looking like he’s having a blast while doing it. Look at that tail wagging!
Fellow dog parents in the comments totally understood — in fact, some even shared the strange objects their dogs are obsessed with, like traffic cones. There really is no telling what they’re going to love!
“As a vet I don’t recommend you letting him do this. He can start collecting them to build his own house and leave you,” one commenter joked.

Toys for Dogs Who Love Herding & Hauling
The reason that this dog loves his concrete block so much is likely because he belongs to a breed who are considered working dogs — as the American Kennel Club points out, Belgian Malinois dogs are smart and have strong herding instincts.
Instead of a concrete block, you might want to find “herding” toys for them, like large knot ropes, toys they can pull with another dog (or even with their humans), and herding balls.
If you choose to get your Belgian Malinois chew toys, just be sure to get ones that are meant for tough chewers… or you’ll find yourself replacing those toys on a daily basis!
It’s good for you and your Belgian Malinois if they have the correct toys and training for their breed, since they tend to get into trouble when they aren’t able to use their brains and strength as much as they want to.
