Golden retrievers absolutely love tennis balls. And a big part of that is they’re easy to grab and retrieve. And, as their name indicates, golden retrievers love to retrieve. But what happens when you’ve got two golden retrievers and one tennis ball? Chaos. That’s what happens. This is depicted in a recent 20-second TikTok by @nalabance.
The video is captioned, “The battle of the tennis ball.” And the video jumps right into that battle. Literally. In the first clip, one of the golden retrievers has the ball in their mouth on a couch, just minding their own business. But you can see the other lurking in the background. They jump, absolutely tackle, and take out the one with the ball in their mouth. It’s a hilarious way to start the battle montage.
“The Battle of the Tennis Ball”
In the next clip, the ball can’t even be seen in the frame, but one golden retriever has the other’s ear in their mouth. In the next clip, one golden retriever has the ball next to their stomach while the other one is trying to get it away with their mouth. The one with the ball next to their stomach responds by kicking and pushing the other golden retriever’s head away with basically all four of their legs and paws.

Then, in the next clip, the two are basically just trying to bite each other’s mouths. You know, typical behavior. And then, in the next one, the tennis ball finally comes back into the frame. It’s in one of the golden retriever’s mouths while the other golden retriever is just trying to look away and separate themselves from the situation. Finally, in the last clip, one golden retriever has the ball next to him, while the other seemingly gives up and just lies down on the couch next to him.
Golden retrievers can be loving, sweet, and excellent family pets. But, like most living creatures, golden retrievers contain multitudes. And they also have a mischievous and, at times, goofy behavior. In a recent video we featured, a golden retriever is hilariously angry after a visit to the groomer. And, in another recent one, a golden retriever was emotionally drained from the holidays.
