Rejection is tough for everyone. And that goes for this poor doggo we found on TikTok. They’re in a 68-second TikTok from @oliversue_sydney. The video’s caption reads, “Sydney is struggling, dealing with rejection.”
The video starts with Sydney, an Australian cattle dog, lying at the top of some stairs. Her eyes are wide open, and her paw and head are reaching over the first step. “Sydney’s having a crisis right now,” you hear a man say. “She doesn’t know how to deal with rejection. Sydney, did you get told no? Poor thing.”
“Sydney Is Struggling, Dealing With Rejection”
Sydney looks very down, bad, as the man says this, doing that hilarious thing where it looks like dogs absolutely feel shame, as she kinda looks at the camera, but then looks away and tries to get as small as possible. “You just wanted some soup, and you got told to get off the counter,” the man continues. “Oliver, is that sad?” he says, panning the camera over to another dog, who also looks kinda sad. “You thought the soup was for you, too? Oh my goodness.”

Then you hear a woman yell from down the stairs that there’s a chip on the ground. Surely this will perk Sydney and Oliver up, right? “Do you want to go get a chip on the ground?” the man asks Sidney. But Sydney doesn’t move or show any emotion. “It’s OK, Sydney,” the man says. “Life will go on.” But Oliver seems interested, gets up, and starts walking down the stairs to investigate said chip. “Go ahead, son, go get that chip. Go get it,” the man tells Oliver as he sprints down the stairs.
Seeing Oliver move gives Sydney the encouragement she needs to follow and also hunt for the chip. “Who’s going to get it first?” the man asks the two as they begin scouring the kitchen floor for the fallen chip. Oliver gets it first. But Sydney’s consolation prize is a piece of chicken, which she devours. Sydney’s back to feeling like herself again! And that’s how the video concludes.
