It is not an easy job being a Livestock Guardian. These dogs have to be protectors by night and loving babysitters by day. They have to wear many hats, being fierce and protective one moment and totally loving and understanding the next.
In other words, Livestock Guardian dogs put up with a lot. But maybe no Livestock Guardian dog puts up with more than Chumley. As this video shows, this guy remains a consummate professional, even when he’s blatantly disrespected by his farm animal siblings.
It’s just another bright and sunny day on this farm. Ari, the llama, is lounging around in the sun, seemingly minding his own business, when all of a sudden, Wilma, the potbelly pig, decides that it is her business to remove Ari from his spot.
She starts harassing her llama sibling, but before things get too heated, Chumley steps in to break things up. He calms Wilma down, sniffing her face, which gets her to chill out.

Chumley then goes over to check on Ari, who apparently did not appreciate Chumley sticking up for him, and suddenly spits in his face. Chumley actually looks back at the camera after this and seemingly stares in disbelief, as if to say, “Did you just see that?”
Unsurprisingly, the Internet recognized Chumley for the incredible good boy that he is, praising his patience and leadership skills as a Livestock Guardian.
Some Instagram users even stated that Chumley could teach us humans a thing or two about having class and patience during stressful situations.
Chumley Is Also a Very Loving Livestock Guardian
As this other video shows, Chumley doesn’t just have extraordinary patience; he also has lots of love to give. In this footage, he lovingly licks his tiny sheep sibling, Richard.
To Chumley, it doesn’t matter that Richard is a different species from him. Chumley’s heart is open to all. And you know what? Richard seems to love Chumley, too. He is totally open and receptive to the way that Chumley affectionately licks him.
It’s absolutely precious to see two animals of different species have a loving interaction like this. Just like it is so wonderful to know that Livestock Guardians like Chumley are out there watching over their animal siblings.
