Some dogs hide under the bed during thunderstorms. This one? He thinks they’re the best thing ever.
In a TikTok posted by @kirstengarrison, a very happy pup can be seen standing in his backyard during a full-on rainstorm, panting with a giant, goofy grin and wide, expectant eyes fixed on his mom through the window. From inside, she films him, narrating what has clearly become a very important ritual.

Puddle-Loving Pup Lives for Rainstorms
“My neighbors probably think I’m evil with my dog outside in the rainstorm, but he doesn’t want to come inside. He wants to run, jump in that puddle over there—and he wants me to watch him,” she says, panning the camera to reveal a large, muddy puddle in the yard.
She opens the door to let him inside, but the dog has other plans. He sprints across the yard and launches himself into the puddle with full-body commitment. Then, just as dramatically, he races back to the window, springing into the air and snapping playfully at the falling rain as lightning flashes behind him. It’s pretty epic, honestly.
But the show isn’t over. Once again, the pup stares at his mom expectantly through the window—goofy grin, eager eyes—clearly waiting for his signal.
She opens the door and calls, “Come on in,” fully aware he has zero interest in actually coming inside. The door opening seems to be his cue. He bolts for the puddle once more, diving in with even more enthusiasm than before.
According to her caption, this rainy ritual didn’t happen by accident. “When he was a puppy I conditioned him to love thunderstorms and it worked too well 😭,” she wrote.

Viewers Are Loving His Stormy Performance
The comments section quickly turned into a cheering section for the rain-loving pup.
“Please tell him we said that was so cool and we are so proud of him,” one viewer wrote in the video’s comment section.
Another cleverly referenced Natasha Bedingfield’s song “Unwritten,” commenting, “God forbid he wants to release his inhibitions & feel the rain on his skin 😭.”
And one person may have nailed the real reason behind the performance: “He wants YOU to jump in the puddle with him.😂”
Positive Reinforcement for the Win
While thunderstorms can be a source of stress for many dogs, this pup proves that with positive conditioning and early exposure, some dogs can learn to associate storms with fun rather than fear.
As his owner joked, it may have worked a little too well. A rumble of thunder doesn’t send him scrambling for cover—it sends him sprinting toward the biggest puddle in sight. And yes, he absolutely deserves an audience while he does it!
