I’ve never had a bird of any kind, which explains my fascination with the charismatic Parrots on the web. They’re like little feathered comedians who don’t know how to be chill when it comes to hurting someone’s feelings. They say and do whatever they want with their humans, giving people like me more than enough fodder for the day, so I don’t rush out and rescue one.

Theo more than meets my criteria for funny birds. This extroverted Macaw is so good at withholding kisses from Mom—then blowing air kisses instead—he’s an everyday Romeo who will make you fall in love with him, then break your heart into a million pieces with no apologies!

The video shows Mom asking Theo for a kiss, but she’s not getting one anytime soon. Instead, Theo offers up air kisses with a cute little “hello” so Mom knows she has to earn the real affection. Based on the intensity of the kisses he blows, I can tell he’s done this before!

Theo isn’t always serving rejections. As a Macaw who’s gone viral many times over for his comedy, he has a sweet and tender side, too.

In a December 2022 video, the gentle and devoted boy comforted Mom with some seriously sweet cuddles and a good chat, proving he’s capable of giving affection… when he feels like it!

Hahn’s Macaws Are Vocal Birds

The Hahn’s Macaws (like Theo) are extremely intelligent, with the ability to pick up things like vocalizations and tricks quickly. Sometimes their level of smarts gets them into precarious situations—like learning to open their cage door to let themselves out!

These active, noisy, and fun birds aren’t for everyone, but for the right homes with pet parents who are prepared to care for them throughout their 30+ years, they make excellent little (chatty) companions.

Theo’s conversation skills are actually pretty impressive, considering Macaws are more likely to whistle than say words, but they’re loud. Apartment dwellers should have understanding neighbors to have a boy like Theo around!

That said, guess Mom should take his cute “no kiss” rejection as a cool talent, even if it stings!
