There are many things a Tuxedo cat will tolerate. A vacuum? No. A closed door? Also no.
A plastic brick version of himself sitting in the living room? I beg your finest pardon?
Pumpkin, a very real and very opinionated Tuxedo cat, walks up to a completed LEGO Tuxedo kitty build like he’s conducting an inspection. The set is just sitting there, minding its business. Identical color blocking. Tiny brick paws. Innocent. Plastic. Pumpkin is not fooled.
He approaches. He pauses. He hisses like the LEGO cat has personally insulted him.
TikTok user @hellastrange18 captioned the hilarious clip, “I enjoyed the cat Lego set, Pumpkin, on the other hand, does not,” which feels like the understatement of the year.
The hiss is immediate. Not confused. Not cautious. Offended. Like big mad.
It’s giving uncanny valley energy.
“It’s the cat’s uncanny valley.”
“Oh… It’s getting knocked off a shelf when you aren’t looking.”
“My cat knocked mine off the shelf into a billion pieces, LMAO.”
“Our cats hated it, too.”
“My cat loves it! She helped me build it, and by that I mean steal pieces from me.”
And listen. That is exactly what my Maine Coon Meatball would do. He has zero tolerance for puzzles, LEGO sets, or any project that does not center on him. If I even open a box of tiny bricks, he appears like a Victorian ghost and immediately steals one piece. Or six. Then he sits on the instructions like, “Good day to you, Sir. I said good day.“
There is something deeply personal about a kitty meeting a miniature version of himself and deciding, absolutely not. No duplicates allowed in this house.
Also, I’m not saying Pumpkin looked personally betrayed by the existence of LEGO Pumpkin, but I’m not not saying that either.
Here’s Another Cat Who Hates His LEGO Twin
If you thought Pumpkin was dramatic, he’s not alone. Another video making the rounds shows a different cat reacting with equal suspicion to his plastic lookalike. Apparently, brick twins are a universal feline threat. Maybe it’s the stillness. Maybe it’s the audacity. Either way, the message is clear. One cat is enough.
