Okay, if you’re not tearing up a little bit over this, I need you to go check if you still have a pulse. Seriously, we need more Chewys in the world.
There’s a heartwarming TikTok from @ChewyTheNewfie that’s going around, and it’s absolutely wrecking people. Me, included. The caption says “He doesn’t play about Grandma 🥹😭❤️” and then explains “Another year surprising his grandma in a tux on Valentine’s morning! Her husband passed 30 years ago and he stepped in.” What?
Picture this: Valentine’s Day morning. Grandma walks downstairs. Waiting by the front door is Chewy the Newfie in a complete tuxedo situation. He’s got flowers. Balloons. Gifts. Everything her husband would’ve brought her if he were still around.
Apparently, Chewy does this every year for his beloved grandma. Every. Single. Year.
People in the comments lost it over the sweetest Newfie boy. Someone wrote “Best boy award goes to🏆” and honestly, there’s no debate here.
The sentimental comments were everywhere. “I’m not crying, you are” and “I am crying!!! We are not worthy of dogs!!!” basically summed up how everyone felt.
Someone joked “Joke’s on Chewy – I wanted to cry today anyway,” while another declared, “Being greeted by this over a man any day of the week.”
Newfoundlands Are Known for Their Loyal, Gentle, and Protective Nature
Here’s the thing about Chewy doing this—it tracks perfectly if you know anything about Newfoundlands. These dogs are massive (we’re talking 130-150 pounds for males), but they’re basically gentle giants who live to take care of their humans.

Back in the day, Newfies worked alongside fishermen in Canada. They’d help with water rescues, haul nets, do all kinds of jobs. They’ve always had this thing where they just want to help humans. It’s built into them.
Chewy probably picked up on the fact that Valentine’s Day was hard for grandma. Dogs notice stuff like that. Especially Newfoundlands, who are crazy smart and super in tune with their families.
These dogs bond deeply with their humans. They’re not aggressive at all. In fact, they’re calm, sweet, and great with kids. However, they’re also protective in this really gentle way and just want to make their humans are okay.

Training Newfies is pretty simple since they’re smart and want to make you happy. They respond well to patience and positive reinforcement.
Chewy showing up in that tux with flowers isn’t some random thing. It’s a Newfie being a Newfie—looking out for his person, making sure she knows she’s loved, doing his job.
Grandma’s got a Valentine who never forgets, never cancels and always shows up looking dapper. Chewy got grandma.
