Bringing home a baby is an exciting time filled with a range of emotions, from happy and sad to overwhelmed and grateful (and tired!). This is particularly true if you have a devoted pup patiently waiting to meet the new family member. You never know exactly how it’ll go until it’s time.
For one Goldendoodle named Lucy, her new human sister isn’t only a welcome change, but something it seems like Lucy’s been waiting a lifetime for. The sweet girl took to her big sis duties right away, and it’s the most heartwarming sight.

In a perfect world, we all have our own version of Lucy, who’s more than ready to be the emotional support companion for the new addition. Watch as the loving Goldendoodle claims the baby as hers (sorry, Mom!).
In today’s “26 seconds of joy,” Lucy diligently serves as the number one protector and guardian of that baby from now until forever. You can tell by the look in the precious pup’s eyes that she won’t let anything happen to that baby, and yes, my heart is exploding over this bond!

I’m not the only one in awe of Lucy’s complete and utter devotion—like love at first sight. Many others have nothing but love for this amazing girl.
“Lucy has been waiting 9 long months for this… let her be,” one person wrote. “What a protective mama. She is in love,” another added. Another person joked, “Listen, lady, that’s Lucy’s baby, so you need to just go on your way.”
Unfortunately for us, there aren’t any other videos of the sweet Goldendoodle, but I’ve written my fair share of dog/baby love pieces! For instance, this devoted Pit Bull “pupset” over “her” crying baby is a mirror image of Lucy.
Goldendoodles Are Natural Caregivers
When you’re a dog mixed with two of the sweetest, most loyal, and happy-go-lucky breeds around—a Golden Retriever and a Poodle—the end result is all but guaranteed to make an excellent companion for a new baby!
Goldendoodles are, by nature, patient, friendly, and smart, making them easy to train and the perfect big brother or sister to any newcomers!
There’s no doubt about it—Lucy will make sure that little girl is loved. What a good girl!
