{"id":1151,"date":"2025-11-18T06:50:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T06:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pe-ts.fun\/?p=1151"},"modified":"2025-11-18T06:50:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T06:50:17","slug":"dog-friendly-button-lets-pets-control-appliances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pe-ts.fun\/?p=1151","title":{"rendered":"Dog friendly button lets pets control appliances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-article-body=\"true\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A university has designed a switch that can be operated by dogs to control household appliances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Dogosophy Button, developed by a team at the Open University in Milton Keynes, uses wireless technology and responds to pushing by a dog&#8217;s nose or paw.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The institute&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/ACI\/?page_id=21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Animal-Computer Interaction (ACI) Laboratory;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Animal-Computer Interaction (ACI) Laboratory<\/a> has tailored the device to suit a dog&#8217;s perceptual characteristics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Its large blue press pad is easier for them to see, and the textured surface is suitable for a paw or snout to grip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The device was originally developed so assistance dogs could switch on lights or kettles for their owners, but the button is now going on sale to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It means pets could learn to use the button for their own comfort, for example, to switch on a fan on a hot day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"A grey-and-white, blue-eyed husky dog lies down on a mustard-yellow sofa. otherwise, they won&#8217;t.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Dogosophy Button is on the market for \u00a396, which includes VAT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Prof Mancini added: &#8220;Humans have designed a world measured on themselves &#8211;
