Waffles, a very particular orange cat, is one of those pets who likes things just so, especially when it comes to his bedtime routine.

In this clip, Waffles can’t quite figure out why his humans aren’t heading to bed at the usual time, and he’s got the sweetest (and slightly aggressive) way of reminding them that it’s time to hit the hay. Make sure your sound is on for this one because he’s very vocal about his bedtime!

Waffles’ mom shared, “Waffles was not built for Daylight Saving Time. We still haven’t gotten him adjusted to the new 10 p.m. yet!” We get it, Waffles! We’re still trying to adjust to the darkness coming so early in the evening, too!

Related: Pit Bull’s Reaction to Breakfast Being Served Late Proves Exactly Nobody Likes the Time Change

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Why Daylight Saving Time Affects Our Pets

If the time change affects your pets, you’re not alone. The American Kennel Club explains, “We know our dogs focus on the here and now, but do they also understand the concept of time? Most researchers who study dogs don’t believe they grasp the concept, but they do perceive the passage of time and will definitely let you know when it’s time for them to eat.” Or in Waffles’ case, when it’s bedtime!

Dr. Jerry Klein, Chief Veterinarian for the AKC, shared, “Dogs respond to daylight, and they wake when the sun rises and sleep when it’s dark. Do they count down the hours to make sure they get eight hours of sleep? Of course not. But their physical and behavioral processes are in sync with the sun.”

Because dogs are creatures of habit and most don’t like changes to their routine, the AKC says that you can see some behaviors in your pup because of the time change, like anxiousness, a nervous tummy, or having accidents in the house. They also recommend, “You might want your dog to get up one hour earlier (or later), walk and eat on a new schedule.”

This story was originally reported by PawNation on Nov 16, 2025, where it first appeared in the News section.
