When a long-haired blond dachshund puppy named Finnley James first tried the tasty treat, his owner filmed the experience, and the resulting TikTok video — which has been viewed more than 4.6 million times — is beyond adorable.

Finnley James is so small that he easily fits in his owner’s hand. When the doggo and his owner pull up to the drive-through window, the barista is instantly enamored with the teeny-tiny dachshund and photographs him. Finally, after waiting patiently (and yawning in the most adorable way), Finnley James receives his treat and eagerly digs in. The pup cup is almost as big as he is, but he isn’t daunted by its size. At one point, his owner boops his nose with a dollop of whipped cream.

“The nose omg so much cuteness,” one viewer wrote. Many people shared how much their own precious pooches love pup cups, too, and it turns out that dogs aren’t the only animals who make appearances in coffee-shop drive-through lanes. One viewer commented, “When I was a Starbucks barista, I saw cats, dogs, a bearded dragon, chickens, ducklings, and on one strange day, a trapped opossum. Best part of the job.”

Read more: 14 Signs Your Dog Loves You

What’s in a pup cup?

<dialog aria-label="Modal Dialog" aria-modal="true" class="fixed bottom-0 left-0 right-0 top-0 z-4 size-full max-h-none max-w-none bg-white hidden"/>

Brown dachshund eating a pup cup – Solstock/Getty Images

The Puppuccino from Starbucks seems to be the treat that started the trend of pup cups. It consists of plain whipped cream served in a little espresso cup. The Puppuccino contains no caffeine, despite its name. Caffeine is high on the list of things your dog cannot eat, and is, in fact, so toxic for dogs that if your pet accidentally consumes some, you should contact your vet immediately. Some canines are also lactose-intolerant, making dairy one of the common foods that can cause diarrhea in dogs.

Although pup cups aren’t harmful, they aren’t exactly healthy since they’re made from heavy cream mixed with sugar. Just like humans shouldn’t consume fatty, sugary drinks every day, dogs shouldn’t wolf down pup cups daily, either. They should be saved as an occasional indulgence. Considering Finnley James’s reaction to his first one, it’s likely he’ll be devouring more of them in the future.

Looking for more cute dog videos?
