There’s just something universal about the way siblings, whether they are bonded by blood or of the found family variety, can “monkey” around and be a little too rough with each other sometimes.

Now, especially when animals of two vastly different species get together, sometimes things can get a little hairy. Just take this video of a rescued spider monkey trying to play with their canine siblings, for instance.

That little spider monkey tried climbing their Dalmatian sibling like they were a tree, but that Dalmatian was not having it, LOL.

Turns out that Dalmatians don’t particularly care for monkey business. At the start of this video, this little spider monkey saw their canine siblings playing around and decided that they wanted to join in on the fun.

However, how a German Shepherd, a Dalmatian, and a little Dachshund like to have fun is clearly different from how a spider monkey likes to have fun. Those dogs may chase each other around and nip and yap at each other a little bit, but none of them attempt to grab the others’ tails.

This is where this spider monkey made their biggest mistake, but not where they first went wrong. Their first misstep was attempting to climb their Dalmatian sibling like they were a tree while they were trying to rest.

Related: Monkey’s Ingenious Banana Heist for Friends Is the Ultimate ‘Robin Hood’ Moment

Once that monkey started to climb, that Dalmatian basically turned into a bucking bronco, got up, spun around, and basically bucked the spider monkey off their back.

The little monkey then attempted to climb on them once again by grabbing that Dalmatian’s tail, which resulted in the Dalmatian spinning in a circle until the monkey flew off and skidded into the grass. Afterwards, the monkey looked very confused, like, “What did I do?”

This Monkey Really Loves Hanging Onto This Dalmatian’s Tail

As this other video shows, this little spider monkey is an absolute rascal when it comes to grabbing and hanging on to this Dalmatian’s tail. While this Dalmatian did not seem to enjoy it so much in the last video, they seem to enjoy it a whole lot more here.

We must say, it’s remarkable how well this monkey managed to hold on, LOL! This Dalmatian was pretty much dragging them all over this field, but this monkey was able to hold on until the very end, and they looked like they were having an absolute blast doing so!

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

This story was originally published by PetHelpful on Feb 9, 2026, where it first appeared in the Pet News section.
