Niall Harbison continues to expand his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo<\/a>. He recently opened a Retirement Village for senior street dogs<\/a> to spend the rest of their days in comfort and peace with plenty of food, medical care, and loving affection.<\/p>\n Atlas the German Shepherd mix endured great hardship living on the streets for years with an enormous tumor. After a risky surgery, the precious pooch is now living his best life and gets the happy ending he deserves.<\/p>\n The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo shared how Atlas wouldn’t have survived on the streets much longer due to his health.<\/p>\n “Time was running out for this old street dog,” the onscreen text explained as the senior canine initially fought Harbison’s attempts to rescue him from the horrible conditions he was living in. The animal advocate and his team members finally cornered Atlas and got him on a leash. “We’re going to help you,” Harbison gently told the frightened fur baby.<\/p>\n Harbison brought Atlas to the Happy Doggo medical clinic, where veterinarians examined a massive tumor attached to his undercarriage. The growth was so huge that it literally weighed the dog down. The vets had to operate on Atlas for him to live a normal life.<\/p>\n “The surgery was risky, but it was his only chance,” the story continued. Harbison stayed by Atlas’s side before and after surgery to make sure he had the comfort he needed.<\/p>\n The operation was a success, and Atlas not only survived but thrived. The canine cutie was able to run freely and enjoy life without the enormous tumor destroying his health. Scenes of Atlas romping on the beach with a Happy Doggo team member highlighted the senior pooch’s new beginning.<\/p>\n But wait… there’s more! Atlas finally has his fairy tale ending.<\/p>\n “You did it, Atlas,” the caption concluded. “You\u2019re home.”<\/p>\n Harbison launched Happy Doggo<\/a> in 2021.
