Livestock Guardian dogs take their duties very seriously. That means that anything that comes onto their farm that looks even slightly out of place gets them going.<\/p>\n
That means that when something comes to the attention of a Livestock Guardian dog, they do whatever they have to do to make sure that their animal siblings, humans, and land are safe.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s precisely what the very dedicated Great Pyrenees<\/a> Livestock Guardians in this video did when they saw that a snake was near a herd of their goat siblings.<\/p>\n Well, there is certainly a lot of excitement on this farm! According to this video, a black snake wandered onto this farm and got a little too close to the goats. Naturally, these Great Pyrenees were not too keen on this snake slithering up to their goat siblings.<\/p>\n They responded by getting into a defensive formation, surrounding the snake, and barking at it to let everyone around them know that a snake was present.<\/p>\n Now, black snakes are not venomous<\/a> and typically just feed on rodents, which makes them good for pest control, but these Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardians still didn\u2019t want to take any chances.<\/p>\n So, they did their best to contain the situation by creating distance between the black snake and their goat siblings.<\/p>\n Related: Tiny Piglet\u2019s Zoomies While Playing With Great Pyrenees Sibling Are the Cutest Chaos<\/strong><\/p>\n According to Instagram user high_five_farms, who posted this video, this is very typical Livestock Guardian dog behavior.<\/p>\n They wrote, \u201cWell-bred and appropriately exposed LGDs take their job seriously\u2026 One of their many duties is to patrol their territory and warn against any potential threats. As natural guardians, they bark at anything that moves, seems out of place, or poses a danger to their \u2018flock\u2019 – that flock being their land, people, and animals.\u201d<\/p>\n Many Instagram users jokingly commented on this video that this goat herd had great seats for this fight, and that some of the small, excited goats seem to be egging their Great Pyrenees siblings on to fight the snake.<\/p>\n As this other video shows, a typical day at the office for these Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardians doesn\u2019t always entail fighting off intruders who find their way onto the farm.<\/p>\n Sometimes, they \u201cwork from home\u201d by taking a nap on the couch while cuddling with their baby goat siblings.
