the video caption continues. &#8220;Hold up head to get them accustomed to jugular blood draws.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The video also says to touch all around the ears, to feel behind the knee (where important lymph nodes can be found), and rub the tummy, all of which teaches your cat that human touch is safe and loving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The vet student makes sure to give lots of gentle pets and fun, playful movements between the examination simulations, so her cat knows this is part of displaying her affection and not just a weird game of doctor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>Related: Maine Coon Cat Gets Creative While Trying To Hide From the Vet<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><strong>How Often Should Cats Go to the Vet?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Maybe this kind of touching seems strange when you just want to cuddle with your kitten, but it&#8217;s actually quite smart to train your cat for vet examinations, because those are a regular part of any pet&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When you&#8217;ve got a baby kitten on your hands, up to four or five months old, it&#8217;s recommended that they see the vet every three to four weeks for regular vaccinations and wellness checks. This usually calms down after they&#8217;ve been spayed or neutered, which happens around five to six months of age.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When your cat is an adult, ranging from one to seven years old, wellness checks become routine and can be limited to once a year, for annual vaccinations, parasite prevention and other normal routine examinations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Senior cats who live to be older than seven years may have to see the vet more regularly, with visits twice a year to ensure they aren&#8217;t developing common issues, including kidney disease, diabetes or arthritis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Of course, if your cat experiences medical needs or signs of adverse health issues at any point in life, a vet visit should be a priority.
