We all know what to do when we spot a coyote in our neighborhood. We see that figure slinking, squint, realize it’s not “Ranger” from down the street, and then go about our business pretending that we never even saw it. They slink back to wherever coyotes go and all is right with the world again.<\/p>\n
Well, what happens when one says “no, thanks” to life on the ground and starts hanging out in a tree-directly outside your window? That’s the new reality @llpeace on TikTok was faced with when she looked out her back window to see a coyote sitting in her tree, snacking on whatever was growing up there. Surreal, to say the least.<\/p>\n
The creator of the video stopped by the comments and we learned that she is in California and the fruit is the loquat, which apparently coyotes very much enjoy. Apparently, the pack comes every spring to eat the loquats on the ground, but this is the first time she’s ever seen one sitting in a tree.<\/p>\n
The comments were full of sympathy for the coyote. “We’re taking over their natural habitats… be kind,” replied one viewer. “People don’t know that coyotes eat insects, moles, and fruit. They are important for the environment!” replied another.<\/p>\n
And many others were just amazed by their skill: “Whoa, they are so agile,” one viewer added. Another thought, “Awesome. Would love to see that in person. Thanks for sharing.”<\/p>\n
