A darling Koala Bear<\/a><\/strong> residing at Australia\u2019s famous Taronga Zoo<\/a> on the shores of Sydney Harbor is taking social media by storm simply by sleeping. The adorable creature is going viral after the zoo\u2019s expert staff captured video of the Koala taking an afternoon nap on a tree branch.<\/p>\n Taronga Zoo is one of Australia\u2019s most famous zoos, located on the shores of Sydney Harbor. Koalas are known to balance themselves in the fork of a Eucalyptus tree<\/a> to find the perfect nap zone, and this one is putting the species\u2019 expert napping skills<\/a> on full display. The “precious baby in perfect peace” is causing animal enthusiasts to swoon, not to mention yearn for a nap.<\/p>\n The Taronga Zoo\u2019s sleeping Koala video crossed our feed with a cuteness factor that had us wide awake. In the video, the Koala can be seen nestled into a Eucalyptus tree, turning its branches into a Koala-sized hammock. Never has there been a more at-peace animal. This sweet bear shows no signs of stirring, even as social media\u2019s “aww\u2019s” are likely loud enough to wake him.<\/p>\n Equally adorable is the sleeping bear\u2019s tiny hand, gently placed on his leg as if he\u2019s frozen in time. Viewers aspire to be this “unbothered.”<\/p>\n One viewer called the bear “Sleeping beauty.” Another added, “Nothing like watching a Koala chillaxing in a tree.”<\/p>\n No truer words have ever been written.<\/p>\n While this bear looks like he\u2019s in contention for the world\u2019s best nap, Koalas in general are master sleepers. One of the sleepiest animals on the planet, Koala Bears are known to sleep 18\u201322 hours a day. This long rest period is due to their diet, which consists mainly of Eucalyptus leaves that are low in nutrients and difficult to digest. Koalas conserve energy through long sleep periods, helping them survive on a low-nutrient diet.<\/p>\n As skilled as Koalas are at sleeping for long stretches, they are also experts at turning Eucalyptus trees into ideal resting spots. Koalas use their strong limbs and sharp claws to grip onto branches securely. A Koala\u2019s body naturally curls forward, helping it settle comfortably against tree branches for extra stability.
