Under the right circumstances, cats can learn to be friends with just about anyone. All it takes is some time and patience and cats will adjust to life with the strangest of siblings.

Take, for example, this cat and bunny duo. When they showed off their epic friendship on Tuesday, November 4th, everyone was totally enamored with them. How could you not be? They’re perfect together:

Theo and Toast are the best. They spend most of their time together and when they’re not together, they’re bothering mom. The pair just met back in August, and pretty much immediately, they hit it off. Toast is still just a kitten, which has definitely made things a little bit easier.

Theo has taken having a baby brother in stride: before him, he was an only child. He still gets some alone time with mom, especially when he’s eating, but he seems to prefer life with a sibling. Bunnies can get lonely, so many of them actually prefer the company of siblings!

Related: ‘Tough Mama’ Doberman ‘Stands Guard’ Over Baby Bunnies in Sweetest Moment

The two of them are more similar than you might think, too. They both love to “loaf,” which means they tuck their legs up underneath them and sit like a little loaf of bread. It’s hard to decide who does it better, but I think Theo’s ears give him the slightest edge:

It’s just so special. Toast’s loaf is still precious, though!

How to Keep Bunnies Safe Around Cats

Bunnies and cats can make good friends, but you do need to make sure that there are some safety measures. If you have a free-range bunny, as many do, that’s fine, but you have to be careful.

You should:

Never leave both of them free-roaming alone together.

Make sure both have separate litter boxes.

Watch the bunny for signs of fear and, if exhibited, remove them.

Luckily for Theo, Toast is such a good boy. He would never hurt him, ever!

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Nov 7, 2025, where it first appeared in the Pet News section.
