Cats get something called whisker fatigue. It stresses them out and is uncomfortable for them to have their whiskers constantly touching the side of a bowl. So, they often leave the middle or edges because they can’t deal with it. To fix the issue, use a shallow plate\/saucer; it really is better for them! Also, use ceramic or metal, not plastic. They’re less bacteria-friendly.”<\/p>\n Is whisker fatigue a real thing when it comes to cats eating? Schertz Animal Hospital<\/a> says maybe. “Whisker fatigue in cats has been used to describe the apparent stress cats can feel when their senses are bombarded by input from the whiskers.<\/p>\n Reportedly, the biggest culprits of whisker fatigue in cats are the deep food bowls and water dishes that we offer our four-legged housemates.<\/p>\n While this sensory input may be troublesome to our more sensitive kitty companions, whisker fatigue in and of itself is likely an exaggeration.
