Pomeranian Pretends To Be Duffel Bag Because He’s Afraid He’ll Get Left Behind in Move

Moving can be very stressful for everyone involved, and that includes our dog roommates.

For dogs, moving can be chaotic, as they don’t really understand what is happening, and they may worry you will forget them, like when you pack your suitcase for a trip.

Except this is all your suitcases and furniture, so the worry is even more significant.

We see that very clearly in this video from the account @keanuthepompom.

Keanu is an adorable Pomeranian who sees all the packed bags and boxes in his house and is worried his mom may forget him.

So what did he do?

He pretended to be one of her duffel bags.

Keanu decided his best strategy was to blend in with his mom’s beloved Alo Bag, as there is no way she would leave that behind.

On the caption for the video, his mom wrote, “Unwell bc my dog is disguising himself as a duffel bc he thinks he’s getting left behind.” Then she put a little broken heart emoji.

It is heartbreaking to think that anyone would leave their dog behind!

But it’s also kind of funny that the pup is pretending to be a duffel bag even though he’s a furry little dog.

But good news! Keanu, or Keeks or Keke for short, as his mom calls him, made it to their new apartment in Brooklyn!

In this sweet video of them in their brand-new furniture-less apartment, you can see and hear his little excited pitter-patters as he explores his new digs.

She tells him, “This is home!” but then quickly follows it with, “You can’t pee, OK?”

It’s smart to set boundaries early in a new living situation, after all!

How To Help Your Dog When You Are Moving

Even with verbal reassurance that they are moving with you, it can be hard to communicate to dogs what is happening, and many of them can get anxious.

Some options to help with moving stress include anti-anxiety medications or trying to keep them entertained or distracted with a toy in a different room from where you are packing.

Crate training can also come in handy when moving, as they know the crate is their safe place.

You may also want to consider boarding them for the night or day or leaving them with a dog sitter or friend, so they don’t have to see all the chaos.

When you have moved into your new place, put out familiar items for them, like their toys and blankets.

Also, make sure their food and water are in an accessible place.
