My Dachshund needed a little time to adjust when we brought home our Pug mix. She let us know she ‘didn’t get the memo’ about gaining a new baby brother in a variety of ways — pointed looks, keeping to herself, as well as the legendary pooch pout. After a few days, she started enjoying the nonstop adoration her younger sibling gave her and realized he was actually a lot of fun.
Like my Doxie, Wally the Golden Retriever tends to let his feelings show and was an easy read when his parents brought home a foster puppy.
In the TikTok from @wally.meets.world, the Golden Retriever had his head down in his mom’s hands. The despairing expression on his face spoke volumes.
“My overly emotional Golden Retriever’s reaction to our foster puppy,” the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, “It’s a lot to process.”
Wally’s mom did her best to reassure him that the situation was temporary, and tried to appeal to the canine’s compassionate side.
“She’s only staying for a few days, buddy,” Wally’s mom told him. “She only has three legs — you have to help her, okay?”
Wally raised his head and turned to look at the pup to see if his mom was telling the truth. When he saw her description was accurate, he just turned back to his mom with the same sad look on his face.
The foster pooch ran toward the coach, causing Wally to paw at his mom as if to say, “I never approved this.” The puppy clamored for attention, forcing Wally to just bury his head in his mom’s lap to mentally try to find his happy place.
The concluding scene showed Wally lying down, facing the corner in a pouting protest as his fur baby roommate took over the dog bed.
Wally Got Followers Posting
The adorable scene prompted some comical comments from followers, who clearly saw Wally’s inner conflict.
“Wally’s begging to stay with grandma for a few days,” one remarked.
“Awwww Wally! Don’t worry you are still momma’s number one boy!” another shared.
“I love how the Golden is pouting throwing major shade but the puppy couldn’t be less aware and is just vibing,” someone noted.
Hopefully Wally was able to overcome his initial trepidation and realize his parents had plenty of love for him and their foster pup.
