Dachshund Fully Taking in Lecture From His Human Is Hilarious

Sometimes, dogs need a few boundaries. And sometimes, that requires a lecture. And while our lectures to our dogs are mostly in jest and funny, it sometimes feels like they understand everything we are saying to them. That’s what happens in a recent TikTok video we found from TikTok user @amychristobel.

The 28-second TikTok video features a dog parent lecturing his dachshund. And it appears as though the dachshund is taking all of it in. The TikTok caption reads, “He’s really taking it all in, bless him.” The video starts with the dachshund sitting on the living room floor, a toy next to him. His human father begins by saying, “Don’t be surprised when I’m here. Because I live here and I pay for this house.” The camera zooms in on the dachshund staring up at him, seemingly taking in every single word his father is saying to him. “And I pay for you to live here,” the man continues. “And I pay for Slinky to live here. And I pay for Mommy to live here. So don’t bark at me. Don’t growl at me. OK?”

Dachshund Knows Exactly What His Human Father Is Saying

The dog continues to take it all in, hilariously, staring intently up at his human father. “Don’t do it again,” the man continues. “Otherwise, I’ll stop the biscuits. And the treats.” And that’s the end of the lecture, and the dachshund looks legitimately sad. Of course, since it’s TikTok, there are also some hilarious, appropriate comments left on the video. “Yeah, this could’ve been an email,” TikTok user @SweetestGigi commented, with a screenshot of the dachshund. “What is bro yapping about?” TikTok user @Hazel also commented, with another screenshot from the TikTok video of the dachshund.

“The only word that registered in his tiny head was BISCUITS,” commented TikTok user @Julie. Those are all probably true. While dogs don’t understand human language in the same way we do, they definitely understand keywords and commands. And they understand things like tone, body language and emotional cues. In fact, many breeds of dog can be extra sensitive to those sorts of things. This dachshund was definitely very sensitive to his human father’s tone and body language, as he knew something was up.
