Caring for a senior dog can be challenging, but it’s also an incredible honor. Between vet visits and potty breaks, there are so many moments of trust and love that can warm your heart for years to come. As one sneaky senior recently proved, however, there will be moments of hilarity and naughtiness, too!
On November 17, the dog mom behind @unhingeddogmom shared a priceless video of her 15-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Salem, forgetting his age as soon as he was left alone with a snack. The only problem is that it wasn’t his snack! Nevertheless, he scarfed down his mom’s egg bites like it was the most scrumptious thing he’s ever tasted!
OMG! This pampered pup looks like a delicate old man when he’s perched delicately in his car seat, but as soon as Mom was gone, all bets were off! He wasted zero time diving for those egg bites, and no one can even blame him.

“The way he instantly stopped shaking so he could lock in and complete his mission” had commenters like @caitlindefaria laughing out loud. It’s like he transformed into an entirely new dog! Even the way he smiled into the camera after committing his crime showed a level of spunk and attitude no one expected from him.
@Saracarter003 pointed out how “nobody would believe you if you didn’t have this video,” and honestly—she’s right! Not a single viewer expected this level of stealth and speed from a geriatric Yorkie, but he proved everyone pleasantly wrong.
Can Dogs Eat Eggs?
Everyone was so impressed with the senior dog’s athletic ability that they didn’t stop to wonder whether he even could eat his mom’s egg bites. While it’s not the ideal snack food for him, considering his prescription diet, it’s not the worst ingredient for dogs, either.
Eggs, on their own, can be a great source of protein and healthy fat for dogs of all sizes. However, they should be fed to dogs in moderation due to their high fat content. Additionally, be sure to cook all eggs before feeding them to your pup.
Luckily, Salem’s mom hasn’t posted about any problems since his thievery. It seems like he escaped this adventure unscathed, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to steal Mom’s snacks again!
