Mini Highland Calf Gets the Zoomies and Pure Chaos Ensues

Looking for signs of a happy dog or cat can be a great way for pet parents to gauge their animals’ joy, but it’s not always easy to know what to look for. It can be even harder when raising farm animals like CoCo Puff, the mini Highland cow, because they can be very hard to read.

Well—only sometimes! In other moments, they’re easier to read than most people.

The priceless moment when CoCo Puff got the zoomies in her yard is the perfect example, because there’s no doubt what she’s feeling beneath her pint-sized chaos. This mini Highland calf is already as tiny and precious as can be, but with her zoomies and high energy, she’s also one happy cow!

Isn’t she the cutest? This tiny baby cow looks more like a large dog than a tiny calf, and her running speed certainly doesn’t help. She could blend right in with a pack of dogs who have the zoomies, too!

It made me smile to hear everyone laugh as CoCo Puff came zooming by, because I don’t think anyone could resist her infectious charm. This little calf is adored beyond measure, especially when she’s in a happy-go-lucky mood, and there’s no doubt she’s going to be a spoiled pasture princess.

“Why is she that fast, though?” asked @juststrongjen. “I did not expect that, LOL!” I know precisely what she means! I can’t say that I’ve seen many adult cows running faster than a light jog, so watching a calf zoom around the yard seems more than a little out of the ordinary.

Other viewers loved how the judgmental llama glared at the baby as she zoomed by. Clearly, not everyone was in the mood for a morning of frolicking and joy, but CoCo Puff doesn’t let that stop her, even for a second.

Mini Highland Cows

Highland cows are already impossibly cute with their long hair and even longer horns, but making them smaller only increases the sweetness. But how much smaller do these mini cows typically get?

Typically, not much! Although the term ‘mini Highland cow’ suggests a separate, smaller species of Highland cow, it actually describes regular Highland cows that are smaller than average. Remember, male Highland cows can weigh nearly 2,000 pounds when fully grown, so minis are still massively heavy!

Luckily for CoCo Puff, she’s light on her feet and more than capable of walking. Zoomies may be different when she’s fully grown, but they’ll still be so worth it!
