Saint Bernard Cries Like a Baby When Beloved Sister Comes Home From College

Nothing will ever compare to the love and loyalty of a dog. They don’t judge our questionable decisions, love us even at our worst, and will always be the most excited to see us every single time. It’s enough to make the heart hurt a little.

Sputzi, the Saint Bernard, knows this kind of devotion to his core, and on the receiving end is his favorite human on earth, his human sister. After being apart for months, you can imagine how thrilled the sweet pup was to reunite with her when she returned home from college—if you’re a softie like me, tissues may be required!

In what I’ll call “the most heartwarming clip of the month,” @sputzithesaint sees *his* girl from the upstairs window and can’t contain his excited, happy cries. His furry legs sprint down the stairs where he waits at the door for the big moment and, well… just watch the emotional reunion!

Like the fans who commented that the stress of watching the Saint Bernard anxiously wait for the door to open—begging Mom to help him out—I was also on edge! The anticipation was enough to make me yell out loud, “OPEN IT!”

Luckily, the payoff was worth it. If you can’t bear to hold on while Sputzi stresses, skip to the 58-second mark when sis walks through the door. Thank goodness for Mom catching this all on camera and the internet for letting us peek inside their special moment.

It’s not the only time the lovebug pup could barely contain his joy over his favorite person. Though he may not fully understand what’s going on, he knows enough to wait by the window until he spots her. If that’s not true loyalty, I don’t know what is.

And for the record, this is the only kind of love I want from now until forever!

Saint Bernards Are Perfect for Families With Children

Like Sputzi, Saint Bernards are patient, affectionate, watchful guardians who have a fondness for children. Growing up and bonding with his human sister, Sputzi shows that intense adoration. They have the sweetest temperaments, are highly intelligent, and are some of the most devoted, loyal, loving companions a family could ever have.

This is yet another example of why we don’t deserve dogs, but we’re oh, so grateful they love us, anyway.
