Decorating for the holidays with one dog can sometimes be quite challenging, but imagine if you have nine Dachshunds.
Well, that is the reality of a woman with a TikTok account called @yunabugs, who has nine dogs.
She has eight Dachshunds and recently adopted a Chihuahua mix, but she refers to them collectively as her Weens.
Her account is full of their many adventures, which, as you can imagine, are quite crazy but so entertaining to watch.
She also loves to put her Weens in costumes (recently, she put fairy wings on them that lit up), and for the holidays, she makes no exception.
In this new video, she has them all dressed in red striped onesie pajamas and Santa hats.
The video starts with her attempting to take her fake Christmas tree out of the box and put it together… while nine dogs watch her every move.
All of the dogs are very curious and involved, especially a Wirehaired Dachshund named Einstein, who often beats to a different drummer.
It should also be noted that one of the Weens, Tubby, has a donut pillow around her neck because she just had a tumor removed.
But she still has plenty of energy and joined her siblings in trying to destroy the cardboard box the tree came in.
Luckily, they didn’t try to mess with the tree too much, except for Einstein, who insisted on being underneath the tree as she assembled it.
Their mom managed to decorate it and get the lights up without total pandemonium.
In fact, the dogs seemed pretty enthralled by looking at the lights on the tree.
Even after putting up an entire tree, their mom managed to continue decorating the house.
She put up some beautiful garland on the mantel and hung stockings for the Dachshunds on beautiful brass Dachshund hooks (of course).
How To Decorate Safely for the Holidays With Dogs
Decorating with your dog or dogs can be fun, but also a little chaotic if your dog is trying to destroy decorations.
Here are some tips for ensuring your dog’s safety while decorating:
-
Skip the tinsel and ribbons: Pets who swallow these can have a lot of GI issues, so just make it easier on yourself.
-
No edible decorations: Don’t let candy canes, gingerbread, or chocolate (especially) be within reach of your pets. You’re asking for problems.
-
Make your tree less accessible to pets: If your pet’s goal for December is to take down your tree or destroy it in some way, make it inaccessible to them.
