Golden Retrievers are incredible dogs, but we all know that they’re downright goofy, right? One silly boy had his mama cracking up with the ahem unfocused way he was staring at the toy she was dangling above him. He was so transfixed! The look on the dog’s face was everything. People online can’t get enough!

No thoughts, just vibes. The dog was totally making his human laugh with the doofy way his eyes were unfocused in the clip.

Drop the ball. Drop the ball. Drop the ball. I don’t really need to speak dog to understand what the dog was thinking in the photo. Mom McKenzie Benjamin was holding the rubber ball just a little higher than her pups head. He must have been trained right and was waiting patiently for mom to drop it.

Look at those little teefs! The Golden Retriever had his head tipped back and was showing his chompers as he looked at the object of his desire. Nothing was going to distract the dog. He was completely locked in.

“Not a lot going on behind those eyes,” the Golden’s mama joked in the caption.

Mom wasn’t the only one laughing at her funny little guy. The comments section was practically rolling.

“Come on brain, think of things,” joked one person.

“They tell me I should thinks twice, I don’t even thinks once,” someone else teased, as if speaking for the dog.

“Congratulations on your land seal, he’s perfect,” quipped someone else.

“Lights are on (barely), but no one is home,” added another person.

Are Golden Retrievers Smart Dogs?

This video might not be the most convincing piece of evidence, but Goldens are actually pretty smart dogs! They have specific kinds of intelligence, however, which might not always show itself in certain tasks (like waiting for Mom to drop a toy!).

In general, Goldens have high emotional intelligence and are good problem solvers. They were once used to fetch small game for hunters after all! These dogs are even used in search-and-rescue missions for their problem solving abilities. So yes, Goldens are smart puppers!
