Adorable Rescued Golden Retriever Has the Gentlest Response to Meeting a Child for the First Time

When a pet parent brings home a rescue dog, the whole world is full of new experiences. Regardless of how old the pup is or what they’ve been through before meeting their forever family, every milestone is worth celebrating—especially when it’s a milestone as cute as this one!

Veteran and dog mom @kyliespc knew it would be a special moment when her rescued Golden Retriever, Sandy, met her friend’s son for the very first time, because she’d never met a child before. Even so, no one could have guessed that the introduction would be capable of melting everyone’s heart!

These new BFFs are two peas in a pod!

Sandy couldn’t have been any gentler with her tiny new friend. The way she “got smaller to make the baby feel safer” had commenters like @tarynbrookee reaching for the tissues, though no one was as moved as the proud moms raising such sweet souls.

“I don’t think the video picks up her constant whining,” Kylie replied to a viewer, “but she was so excited and enamored.” Clearly, these two are going to be besties for life! Sandy showed just how much she trusts Scotty by the way she lay down to say hello, but the way she ran to get reassurance after proved just how excited she was, too.

No wonder Kylie told another commenter that she couldn’t be prouder of her pup! Meeting anyone new can be scary and overwhelming for a rescue dog, but taking a risk and saying hello can pay off beautifully in the end.

Golden Retrievers and Kids

Golden Retrievers like Sandy are considered to be one of the best family dog breeds. Between their gentle and intuitive spirits, their easygoing attitudes, and their loyal and loving hearts, it’s hard to find a better childhood friend! Whether it’s time to play or wind down for bed, a Golden will be happy just to be with their favorite kid.

Sandy may not have any human siblings of her own quite yet, but she’ll be making playdates with Scotty in no time. This is only the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
