Most of the time, our furry friends love nothing more than soaking up cuddles, affection, and attention from us… most of the time. But every now and then, they get a little annoyed with us, just like TikToker @jhaydenaczon’s tuxedo cat, Maui, does in this video.
When Maui’s dad leans in for a smooch, she wants absolutely no part of it. She refuses to make eye contact, but she definitely knows what he’s trying to do, and she hilariously refuses his advances!
Maui clearly wasn’t in the mood! Her dad joked in the caption, “She takes after my wife,” which of course cracked us all up!

Commenters LOL at Maui’s Reaction to Dad’s Kisses
Maui’s video quickly went viral with more than 6 million views, over a million likes, and more than 4,000 comments. People couldn’t get enough of the cat rejecting dad’s affection! Like @a.leo.sage.fragrance, who called Maui’s move, “The Matrix dodge!”, and @Monique Love added, “She curbed you a full 180° LOL!”
@Chris fitt pointed out, “Distance started being made before the video even started LOL!” We cracked up when @Sarah Bleier said what the cat was thinking, “I just don’t think of you in that way.” @Bee got 114,000 likes when they said, “Bro, please, take a hint!”
Others couldn’t get enough of Maui’s impressive mustache, sharing pictures of their own mustached tuxedo cats, as well as photos of the Pringles and Monopoly logos, both of which feature men with prominent mustaches.
Commenter @RaspberryJewel asked, “Why do they all do this?! LOL! Rejection from cats is painful!”
Treehugger explains that whether a cat likes kisses or not depends on the cat. “Some cats are socialized as kittens to be held and kissed, while others haven’t had that exposure and might be put off by a kiss as an expression of love.”
They also remind, “When you bring your face close to the top of your kitty’s head, does it move away, pull its ears down to the side, or hiss? These are signs that your cat might not appreciate kisses. Cats are known to be fickle and their desire for affection might change from day to day, so try not to take your cat’s rejection to heart.”
