The two were playing together when the woman tested her theory. She’d given him a nickname when he lived with her, would he remember it?

“Are you…Little Dude?” she tentatively asked. Yes, he was Little Dude! That was his name! The dog jumped up and gave the woman some kisses. It really seemed like he remembered his name and was excited that she remembered it too.

“I love getting to hang out with my boy again,” the woman wrote in the caption.

Isn’t that just the coolest thing? People in the comments section were so touched.

“He’s like ‘OH MY GOD YOU REMEMBER MY NAME,’” joked one person.

“I’ll always be your little dude!” chimed in someone else.

“He said ‘the name my ancestors gave me,’” one commenter quipped.

While another commenter shared that they were also working hard to make sure their dog remembers them: “I whisper my dog’s nickname in his ear and tell him I love him cause now it’s the only way he’ll hear me and he goes crazy,” they wrote.
