Pregnancy is so difficult. Everything changes so quickly, and it stays wonky for a long time. That’s scary for everyone, but it takes a particularly big toll on our furry friends.

Most of the time, at least. For one German Shepherd, his mom’s pregnancy has turned out to be somewhat of a blessing! She has some really cool and comfy gadgets that he’s taken a liking to:

Emily Park is amazing for this. She’s also amazing for calling it a gift when everyone knows she just got tired of him stealing it and gave it to him. He’s probably been working on this goal for weeks, if not months.

The best part is that he’s using it exactly like a pregnant lady would. He’s got it all lined up for maximum support! All he’s missing is the bump! This is officially his favorite thing, and he’s well on his way to building the nest of his dreams.

His name is Jackson, and he hasn’t realized that he’s not going to be the only baby anymore yet. He’s never had a sibling of any kind, and his routine is going to have to change. For now, they’re enjoying all the solo time with him that they possibly can.

He looks very handsome in his raincoat! I wonder if they’ll get the baby a matching one! How sweet would that be?!

How to Prepare a Dog for a Baby

Having a dog and getting pregnant is not the end of the world, and it’s not necessarily something you need to worry about, either. Your dog will come around to the baby, and they will adjust to all of the changes eventually.

There are some things you can do to help speed the process along, like:

  • Making little adjustments, like time changes, before the baby is born.

  • Having designated baby-free rooms/areas.

  • Taking them on walks/car rides without the baby for alone time.

Giving them your pregnancy pillow apparently helps, too. Jackson is never letting that thing go!
