Candice Ybarra’s son Lucas was very excited to try his first oyster — until he put it in his mouth.

In a now viral video, the 6-year-old could be seen bouncing up and down in excitement as he sat in a restaurant and received an oyster to try. As he takes the shell from someone, he slurps the oyster with a look of pure concentration.

“Take the whole thing! There you go,” Lucas’ grandfather can be heard saying off camera. But as the oyster enters Lucas’ mouth, he immediately decides he does not like it.

Lucas looks like he’s about to be sick as he tries stuffing the oyster in before deciding it needs to come out. He spits it up into his grandfather’s outstretched hand as others at the table can’t help but laugh.

“He was so excited to try all the seafood!! I don’t blame him,” Ybarra wrote in her caption.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Ybarra tells PEOPLE she decided to pick up the camera to film her son trying his first oyster because she knew it would be a funny reaction.

“Personally, I think [oysters] are gross, so I knew it would be a funny reaction when he tried it for the first time,” she says. “I felt bad because he was so excited and then BOOM disappointment.”

Ybarra explains that they’d taken Lucas and his siblings to visit his grandfather and the 6-year-old decided he wanted to try all the different kinds of seafood.

“We took him and his siblings to Florida for the first time to stay with his grandpa (the man talking in the video), and he wanted to try all the seafood while we were there,” she says. “Lucas has always been obsessed with sea creatures since he was a baby.”

“Lucas tried and loved almost everything else he tried,” continues Ybarra. “He ate alligator, fried shrimp, calamari. He said the octopus tentacles were his favorite.”

Since then, Lucas hasn’t tried another oyster – and Ybarra doesn’t think he will,

“But I do not blame him because I would not eat them myself!” she adds.
