Golden Retriever’s Look of Total Hope Over a Basket of Fries Has Everyone Cracking Up

Table fries are a must, or if you’re at breakfast, table hash browns. Table potatoes, no matter the preparation, are a great addition to any meal. There’s something so special about a good French fry, though. The right French fry just can’t be beat!

You know who else loves fries, though? Dogs. The fry tax is applicable to two individuals: dogs and dads. It’s just how life goes, and if you bring fries around your dog, you’re responsible for what happens next. One poor Golden Retriever tried his best to ignore the table fries… to no avail.

This dog doesn’t belong to @alixlb1, but she has everyone who watched this video completely enamored with him. He’s so precious, and this was before the fries even got to the table! He heard someone ask for fries and immediately perked up.

I’m choosing to believe that this means he’s definitely going to get one, because he would not know what they are if he weren’t offered them at least once. It’s like dogs who know what Starbucks, Dunkin’, and pup cups are! Plus, those girls look very nice. They’d cough up some fries, no doubt!

Since this isn’t Alix’s dog, there’s not much else we know about him, but I would like to point out that this is classic Golden Retriever behavior. He’s sitting very nicely, and while not being pushy, he’s definitely projecting lots of, “if I don’t get a fry, I will be very mad,” vibes. Intimidate without threatening: the Golden Retriever way of life!

Are Fries Safe for Dogs?

French fries are one of life’s greatest pleasures for humans, and you’ll find that many pups love them, too. A single fry or maybe even two likely won’t hurt dogs, but you should make sure they’re not:

If you can, offering them baked or even air-fried French fries as opposed to deep-fried ones will help make them to be a little bit healthier for them. However, beggars can’t be choosers: a dog will take what they can get. It’s up to us to make the good choices for them… but their puppy dog eyes make it so hard!
