Bernese Mountain Dogs are some of the best dogs out there, but they’re also some of the goofiest, which is why people adore them. They’re like the smartest single-brain-celled pups in the world. When they set their minds to something, there is nothing you can do.

Beyond their loyalty, though, Bernese Mountain Dogs can sometimes get a little bit anxious. They choose their favorite people and they always want to be with them. If they can’t, or they get separated… Things don’t go well.
For one Bernese Mountain Dog, getting separated from her mom is legitimately her worst nightmare. She refuses to even consider letting it happen, but she’s not always physically tethered to her with a leash. When that’s the case, she pulls out a crazy hack to stay close:
This Berner in the Burbs is so goofy for this. Not only is she doing all of this, but she’s literally inside. She is in her own house and wrapping herself around her mama like that! She must be worried dad is going to come home and try to take her for a walk or something.
Her name is is Maggie. She’s 8 months old, and she’s pretty far from the Bernese Mountains (AKA the Bernese Alps): she lives in Australia! Unfortunately, she does not bark with an Australian accent, but she does think the world revolves around her mom.

She literally revolves around her mom, sometimes. She likes to chase and catch her tail, then spin in a circle around her mom’s leg. It’s unclear whether she does this with her dad as well, but I think one parent is enough!
When Maggie isn’t getting her spin on, she’s still making things difficult for her mom. She doesn’t always want to be with her, apparently: on walks, she’d love to zoom away from her with a big stick:
This is so funny. The juxtaposition just couldn’t be sillier!
Bernese Mountain Dogs Are Clingy
While Bernese Mountain Dogs are incredibly smart and train well, they’re also very emotionally attached to their loved ones. Bernese Mountain Dogs can sometimes be:
-
Prone to separation anxiety.
Proper training and veterinary care will help mitigate any potential issues, it’s important that you keep up with it. And if they start chasing their tails around your legs, just let them!
