My last dog was a 120-pound Bernese mountain dog. The dude was massive. Had a big bark. Commanded attention from basically every other living being when he walked into a room. And he was the biggest baby in the world. If you’ve been fortunate enough to be a pet parent of a large-breed dog, you know. They can be the biggest babies. Tasks that should seemingly be easy, automatic, and thoughtless can freeze them.

That’s why I especially appreciate this hilarious TikTok video from TikTok user @zebbythegolden featuring such an adorable Golden retriever. The TikTok’s caption reads, “Welcome to the Golden Retriever Olympic Games featuring Zebby.” (Cue the Chariots of Fire theme song.)

“Golden Retriever Olympics With Zebby”

The video starts with a person holding a bar resembling a broom or mop stick across the entrance to the door, a few inches off the ground. The video’s caption reads, “Level 1: Easy peasy.” Zebby could definitely walk over the bar, but instead gets a bit of a wind-up and does a majestic leap over the bar and sticks the landing on the other side. Mission accomplished, but perhaps a bit tougher than it should’ve been.

Regardless, it’s on to level two for Zebby. The bar rises a bit, and the next shot shows Zebby back on the other side, but this time with a massive stuffed corn cob in his mouth. The video’s caption reads: “Need emotional support corn for this one.” Zebby drops the corn and hesitates, and the video’s caption reads, “Mom, are you sure I’ll make it?” After the brief pause, Zebby does it and sticks the landing on the other side!

Onto Level 3. The bar raises even higher, and there’s some serious consternation. The video’s captions hilariously predict what’s going on in Zebby’s brain. “I can do it,” “No, I can’t,” Yes, I can,” “NO,” “I GOT THIS,” “NO.” After mom’s demonstration, Zebby pulls it off again! Cruising for the gold medal. “Did I really just do that?” the video is captioned. And then we get a slow-motion replay of Zebby’s gold medal performance.

There are some hilarious comments from other TikTok users. “His one brain cell processing what he has to do,” quipped TikTok user Michelle. Zebby’s account responds, “One brain cell working overtime.” TikTok user Kait Cochran comments, “Why is he the cutest Golden Retriever I’ve ever seen in my life?! Look at his face.” We totally agree, Kait.
