Orange Cats Get Their Own Christmas Tree and the Cutest Chaos Ensues

Orange cats Chuck, Frank, and Reggie were thrilled when their dad surprised them with their very own Christmas tree. True to orange cat form, they immediately set about working together to destroy it, and from the looks of it, they probably succeeded!

Dad shared a video capturing the chaos, and anyone who’s ever lived with an orange cat can probably guess what happened next. The cats played in it, around it, and under it. They tussled with each other while one was in the tree and the other was out. They nibbled on the branches, then hid and launched sneak attacks on one another. It’s the kind of Christmas chaos we can’t get enough of!

This was so much fun to watch, and yes, we watched it more than once. The boys all had fun, and Dad wasn’t wrong when he said in the caption, “It was quite the experience LOL!” We’re wondering if it’s still standing!

Why Cats Love the Christmas Tree

We haven’t come across a cat yet who isn’t obsessed with getting in or under the Christmas tree. According to Best Friends Animal Society, it’s no surprise that our feline friends are immediately obsessed the second the tree goes up.

“A Christmas tree provides the ultimate enrichment for cats. It’s a new and exciting object that appeals to their natural instincts. And those instincts tell them to climb that tree, hide in it, scratch it, play with it, and bite it.”

They go on to explain another reason that cats are happy to see a tree in the house. “You see, before cats began living with humans, trees provided a place for them to watch over their territory, hide from predators, and seek out their next meal. As animals who are both predator and prey, cats are drawn to trees for a sense of safety, security, and control.”

They also shared some Christmas tree safety tips to keep all of our furry friends safe:

  • Keep glass ornaments out of your cat’s reach or use non-breakable ornaments instead.

  • Put a strand of lights that’s not plugged in at the bottom of the tree to help prevent electrocution.

  • Move furniture that your cat could climb to easily access the tree.

  • Ensure the tree stand is heavy and supportive or use fishing line to anchor the tree to the wall.

  • Skip decorating with tinsel, ribbon, and any other string-like items your cat could swallow.

We hope that the orange cats’ dad shares more Christmas content soon because it totally made our day!
