TikToker @rosieandtheshelterpups is a volunteer at her local animal shelter and often shares heartwarming videos of the animals she cares for. But her latest post takes a different turn; it’s hilariously adorable and a little bit vicious!
Rosie spotted a few tiny kittens in one of the cages and decided to show them some love. But one kitten’s reaction to her gentle pets has everyone cracking up. It’s pretty clear that this little one wants absolutely nothing to do with her!
Rosie half-joked in the video’s caption, “What am I supposed to do after that?! LOL!” We’d probably go in for a round two, just to see the little one’s reaction again!

Rosie’s video has been viewed more than 8.4 million times, and commenters have left thousands of comments about the kitten’s reaction, and some of them cracked us up as much as the video did. @jayemoore said exactly what we were thinking, “I’ve never seen a kitten rebuke someone.”
@ghost pointed out, “He dipped his paw in the holy water first, LOL!” @mbanat got 67k likes when they said what the kitten was probably saying, “In the name of Jesus, be gone!” @mattyb627 added, “Being exorcised by a kitten is such a 2025 thing, LOL!”
Commenter @Leah got 77k likes when she said simply, “Shoo! Be gone!” @Alyssa added, “‘Peasant! Back I say!’ – the kitten probably.” @shanacroc got more than 117k likes when they joked, “If water scares me, it probably scares you too…” @Sama laughed and added, “The fact that the kitten had to stand on two legs for that!”
Many kittens, and animals of all ages, for that matter, show signs of stress in shelter environments. It’s a noisy, busy place with lots of unfamiliar sights, smells, and sounds. Some kittens and young animals may have never had contact with humans before arriving at the shelter, and that lack of socialization can make them extra fearful and wary.
The Wisconsin Humane Society notes that it’s best to give these animals space and let them approach you when they’re ready. Maybe Rosie could try interacting with the kittens from outside the cage next time until they’re comfortable enough to come to her, and then she can give those first-time pets another shot!
