Sometimes during the holiday season, we receive a gift that we don’t like, want, or need. It can be a challenge to fake your way through a gracious “Thank you! I love it!” moment.
You know who has no intention of playing along? A Dachshund who just received a new coat and wants no part of it! In a hilarious clip on TikTok, we meet this sweet pup who gives the best side-eye in response to his new gift.
Much like a teenager, this pup thinks he’s too cool for a coat! Take a look.
“He literally has been frozen for the last 20 minutes. It’s safe to say he hates it,” his family writes.
Aw, poor fella. If he only knew how cute he looks!
Viewers got a kick out of the clip, but at the same time, they’re concerned.
“Did he ever unfreeze? 😂” one asked.
“The side-eye 😂 he is gorgeous ❤❤❤,” another wrote.

Other pet parents face similar issues.
“One of mine freezes whenever I put his harness on to go for a walk. We literally go for walks almost every day, and he still does it😂,” someone noted.

Apparently, it’s a common response.
“🤣🤣🤣🤣 I bought that exact vest coat for my little guy, and he froze like a statue as well!” another viewer wrote.
I can relate, too. I got a lovely green cable-knit sweater for my cats because they often sit on the radiator covers during the winter, and I thought it would help them stay warm. But much like this pup, they just freeze and do not love their new garment. I will say, I still put it to good use by having them wear it so I can clip their nails. They stay still, and we’re done in minutes.

How Do You Convince Your Pet To Wear Coats?
Much like kids, dogs don’t seem to want to wear their coats, no matter how cold it is. What can we do to convince them?
Experts recommend finding one that fits well and then introducing it slowly. Let your pup sniff it and then maybe offer a treat or two to pair the jacket with something they enjoy. Give them plenty of praise and be patient. They may come around to enjoy it in time.
We hope this Dachshund can appreciate his coat and take a nice, long walk to show it off. Despite what he may think, he looks great!
