Unique Somali Kitten Looks Like Pumpkin Spice in Cat Form

This short video from Salt Lake Kitties on TikTok shows a Somali kitten who looks like they were just manifested right out of autumn itself. The kitty has beautiful, rich orange fur with deep black accents, plus amazingly blue eyes, and white fur sprinkled throughout. The video runs just 12 seconds, but this baby is utterly magnetic, and you cannot look away.

It’s just a simple video of a kitten playing. They’re rolling and batting at something unseen, but they’re just so beautiful. The black velvet they’re laying on makes every red-gold hair pop, and the fur is so rich, it looks like it was brushed with pumpkin spice. Gorgeous! See for yourself.

(And, if this quick clip makes you crave more spectacularly beautiful cats, don’t miss the Halloween cat that looks born for October.)

Viewers all agree that this Somali kitten is a stunner, pointing out their black toe pads, and the multitude of shades in their coat as their favorite parts.

One commenter thought, “They look like Kovu from the Lion King.” Another had a totally different take, “Omg, this is a Scooby-Doo cat.”

Why Somali Cats Have That Beautiful, Fox-Like Coat

The Somali’s incredible color comes from the same ticked pattern found in the Abyssinian breed. Each strand of fur has alternating light and dark bands that create that unusual, fiery look. According to Cat Fanciers’ Association, the tone is the result of a dominant gene producing a ruddy base with black tips, giving the coat its golden, shimmering look.

Kittens are not born with the coat color they end up with — their colors are muted at birth, and by 18 months their coat will intensify in richness and depth until it reaches the final shade. The Somali is officially recognized in four coat colors: red, blue, ruddy, and fawn. All Somalis have the same ticked tabby pattern, and all colors also have different silver variants.

Their coats tend to shift color in changing light. It’s a super cool effect, and it makes them seem alive with movement, even when standing still. It’s part of what makes this kitten so mesmerizing. A living, purring illusion of motion and light.
