Harley, a senior Chihuahua, is having a moment. In fact, the adorable pup wants more than a moment. The attention-loving pooch wants all his humans’ time, and he’s willing to wait until he gets it. And who can blame him? A Chihuahua with this much main character energy deserves to be the family focal point whenever he wants.
Here’s what went down.
Harley’s humans are sharing a now-viral social media video in which the clever Chihuahua can be seen with a beautifully wrapped gift at his paws. Rather than rummage through the wrapping to see what he’s been gifted, Harley pauses, looks around, and waits until his entire human brood is focusing on him. It must be nice to have this dog’s level of confidence.
When the cute canine finally senses his humans are giving him the attention he wants, and of course deserves, he sets his sights on the gift in front of him. Harley gives the package a few sniffs while still noting which humans have rudely steered their attention elsewhere.

Why Chihuahuas Crave Attention
While Harley’s humans shared he just wanted a “solo moment,” commenters joined the conversation, dissecting Harley’s antics.
“OMG why is he so adorable with his equally tiny gift?” shared one commenter. Another added, “He deserves an audience.”
Another states the obvious, “Why would you be paying attention to anything else anyway?” Fair point, commenter.
Chihuahua families know that Harley’s need to be a solo act is not unique to this one cutie. Chihuahuas don’t just like attention—they need a lot of it. Originally bred as companions, these deeply loyal dogs are also prone to separation anxiety. Chihuahuas are known to find comfort in sitting on their human’s laps and being close by. No wonder this breed has earned the aptly named nickname “velcro dogs.”
You won’t be lonely if you’re rooming with a Chihuahua, but you probably won’t ever be alone either.
