Baby Retriever Becomes the ‘Little Spoon’ in Sweet Cuddle With Big Brother

Sometimes, you just need to hang out with your sibling. Chalk it up to shared childhood experiences, but spending time with a sibling can simplify life and make everything feel easier. When it comes to special sibling time, pups are no different from humans. Dogs are able to recognize siblings by scent even years after being separated. For two Golden Retriever siblings going viral on social media, sibling time means a sweet cuddle, with one acting as “the little spoon” and the other as the big one.

In a video shared to TikTok by the pups’ humans and captioned “Sometimes you just need a cuddle with your big brother,” a young Golden can be seen settling into spooning position with his big brother. The little one first rests his head on his brother before cozying up against his belly.

The pups’ sibling bond is unmistakable. These two could happily spend hours together—and social media followers are more than happy to watch every adorable moment.

“This is just the sweetest thing,” commented one viewer. Another added, “Absolutely so precious.”

“That is the fluffiest puppy I have ever seen,” shared another.

Why Dog Siblings Love to Cuddle

These therapy dogs in training are clearly most comfortable with one another, judging by their relaxed cuddle session. Doggy spooning is a sign of comfort and trust. Whether one pup is the big spoon or the little spoon, this behavior reflects a strong emotional bond and a deep sense of safety.

The canine equivalent of a sleepy hug, spooning provides warmth, comfort, and reassurance. This bond is often amplified between siblings, as dogs can recognize relatives by scent. Even after time apart, sibling dogs may show excitement, familiarity, tail wagging, and playful postures—clear signs they recognize and trust their littermates.
