Shihpoo Puppy Argues With Dish Towel in Dramatic Kitchen Standoff

Sometimes, when you bring a new puppy home, it takes them a little while to adjust to all the new sights and sounds. They don’t always know the difference between friend and foe—which can make for some adorable exchanges during the learning process.

Chewie, the Shihpoo puppy, just had the cutest argument with a dish towel we’ve ever seen, and it’s the perfect reminder that even the simplest things can seem super scary to a brand-new pup. His mom shared the terrifying (and hilarious) encounter on their TikTok, @chew.chew.the.shihpoo, and it’s almost guaranteed to make you giggle at his tiny but mighty bravery.

According to his mom, this little fluffball is always arguing with something, and today’s opponent is a fuzzy dish towel hanging from the oven handle. The black-and-tan cutie is sitting directly in front of his nemesis and using his serious big-boy bark to let the towel know there’s only room for one of them in this kitchen.

When he jumps up for a closer sniff, the towel moves—and that’s it. Chewie has had enough! He jumps back, like the dishcloth is about to eat him. His mom tries to reassure him, saying, “It’s a towel!” but that doesn’t calm him one bit. He continues to toss tiny woofs toward the hand towel in adorable protest of its presence.

In his few, short months of internet fame, this Shihpoo puppy has developed quite a fanbase. Viewers were quick to chime in with hilarious comments, including @thebookfixer, who joked, “Seriously, your house is a death trap. He’s just letting you know!” while @seabob75 imagined Chewie’s inner thoughts: “It’s the biggest, tallest monster in the universe, Mum! Be careful, I’ll protect you! Stay back!”

One thing is for sure: Chewie is dedicated to keeping his new family safe from anything he deems a threat… including the linens!
