After spending the first weekend in January taking down all of my Christmas decorations, including the tree, I will be the first to tell you that my house feels way less magical. There’s something about the glow of those Christmas tree lights at night that nothing else can replicate!
Humans aren’t the only ones who can feel a bit bummed out by the decorations being put away. Dogs definitely notice, too—especially the Goldendoodle in the video below, who seems especially miffed his mom would do such a thing.
Dog mom @memydoodsandi on TikTok shared this footage of her dog Luca’s reaction to the Christmas decorations coming down, and let’s just say that he and I have a lot in common.
Because, not only did Luca look totally bummed out just watching it all happen, but he even did some very dramatic, angry stomps to prove his point.
Then, the Goldendoodle guarded his own tiny Christmas tree (with his face on the star on top—genius) and did not seem to want his mom to put that one away. Unfortunately, his tree was real, so no matter what he might want, it’s not going to last forever. I really hope she left it out for him a little while longer, even just for a few extra days.

Commenters can also relate, so Luca and I definitely aren’t alone in our post-holiday gloominess. Multiple people even suggested giving him a tree that can be decorated for every holiday so he can hang on to a little bit of the festiveness. He might like that!
Part of what makes those decorations so special is that they aren’t up all year, though… and another Christmas is less than a year away. We will get our decorations back, Luca!
