My Pug mix is a rescue dog from Puerto Rico, so he was used to beaches and warm weather during the first year of his life. When we brought him home to the Northeast, the weather was a shock to his system. Turns out he loves the cold and went crazy with joy when he experienced his first snowfall. Now my Puggie can’t wait to get outside the minute the first flake falls.
Kevin the Bernese Mountain puppy is also a snow-lover and wants to spend as much time as possible in the frosty weather. It takes a lot of convincing and even some bribery to get the canine cutie to come inside.
In the TikTok from @keepingupwithkevin, the Bernese fur baby sat in the snow without a care in the world and no desire to be indoors. His mom called for him to come inside but Kevin didn’t budge.
Apparently, this is not the first time Kevin refused to leave his snowy seat. His mom knew he needed some prodding to get out of his frosty playground, so she grabbed his food bowl. She held it high for Kevin to see and shook it, which made him quickly come running.
“The only way I get Kevin inside when it’s snowing,” the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, “Bribery.”
As soon as Kevin got in the door, he sat at attention expecting to get his reward. The canine cutie seemed like he forgot about the snow, at least for the moment.
Bernese Mountain Dogs Don’t Mind the Cold
Thanks to their lush, thick double coat, Bernese Mountain Dogs adapt quite easily to extremely cold temperatures. Their dense undercoat serves as a built-in insulator, where their body heat is kept close to their skin.

The Bernese’s outer coat repels water and snow, providing further warmth. These canines have less insulation in their nose and paw pads, so caution is still necessary in harsh cold weather.
As Kevin so adorably demonstrates, Bernese Mountain Dogs love spending a lot of time in the snow and may need extra incentive to head indoors.
