We see a lot of rowdy pets on TikTok and Instagram as we hunt for the best videos to share. But the absolute rowdiest we’ve come across in a while is one of the golden retrievers that’s featured pretty consistently by TikTok user @imbluethesiberiann. One of the most recent videos shows the golden retriever’s obsession with the backyard pool. It’s racked up millions of views.
The video starts with the golden retriever’s human father holding onto him by the pool. The caption on the screen reads, “Trying to get my golden retriever puppy out of the pool.” But then Bauer—the name of the golden retriever—breaks free, sprints towards the pool, and does a hilarious front flip, somersault thing into the pool. The man throws his hands in the air and says, “Here we go.” And that sets off a hilarious montage lasting over a minute of Bauer being chased around the pool in an attempt to keep him out.
“Don’t Rip the Towel!”
In the following clip, a very wet Bauer runs around the pool, with his human father following closely behind. “Do not go back in that pool,” the man says, picking Bauer up. “We’re done going in the pool. You’ve been out here for three hours.” He sets Bauer down and tells him to wait while he grabs a towel. Bauer does not wait. He sprints and jumps right back in the pool.

The other golden retriever—named Maverick—follows Bauer and acts like he’s going to help their dad get him out of the pool. But in the next clip, Maverick has the towel the man was trying to use to dry Bauer in his mouth and is playing tug-of-war. “Don’t rip the towel!” the man exclaims.
Meanwhile, Bauer is just running laps around the pool with what looks like his empty food bowl in his mouth. The man finally catches Bauer with the towel, starts to dry him off, but Bauer escapes and jumps right back into the pool. And then Maverick does his part and starts playing tug-of-war with the towel again. But this time, he succeeds in ripping the towel apart. Eventually, Bauer ends up in the pool with the towel. The man finally gives up and lets Bauer have his freedom in the pool.
Bauer is no stranger to being a menace in the pool. He’s the same one who popped his dad’s pool floaty not long ago. Golden retrievers are hilarious and dramatic dogs that make for some good video content.
