In some ways, dog siblings can be a lot like human siblings—especially when the time comes for them to share a toy. Not all dogs recognize the concept that sharing actually is caring, and some even have more fun fighting to the death over their favorite stuffed animal than they do actually playing with the toy itself. It’s just the way it is!
The Golden Retriever puppies in the video below are ready to engage in an epic battle over a tennis ball, and neither of them is willing to concede easily, making this a smackdown to behold.
Pups Nala and Buddy are really going at it in this video shared by @nalabance on TikTok, fighting to see who ends up with the tennis ball, which is apparently a very hot commodity between the two.
Their teeth are out, they’re kicking each other, they’re digging and barking on the couch… and in the end, I can’t even really tell who won the battle (and I have a feeling that the dogs themselves can’t, either).

Despite how vicious their battle may have gotten, it’s good to see that Nala and Buddy play so well together! Since Buddy joined the family in 2025 (around the time that his big sister was 2 years old), it looks like they adjusted really quickly to their new life as a family, according to the other videos their mom has been sharing on TikTok.
They don’t just fight over their tennis balls, though. According to previous videos, these two will take the opportunity to wrestle over just about anything, even with no toy to duke it out for.
Then again, many Golden Retriever parents are used to this kind of behavior, and at least they’re having fun together? Somehow, Nala and Buddy seem to understand that they need to be gentle with each other, which is so sweet to see.
