Niall Harbison regularly encounters street dogs in dire need of medical attention through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. His sanctuary provides these dogs with much-needed health care as well as love and affection.
Harbison brought Sienna, who appears to be a Shepherd mix, to his sanctuary almost three months ago, where she has made tremendous progress thanks to the rescue founder and his dedicated team. Sienna has improved so much that Harbison finally got to take her on a special trip he’s been promising since her arrival.
In the Instagram video from @niall.harbison, he shared some background on Sienna’s story.
“She’d been used for endless puppies and left on the street,” the onscreen text explained, with the caption giving further details on how “her skin was in agony, her tail was down, the rain was pouring down and she had no trust in humans”.
The video showed Sienna when she first arrived at the sanctuary, cowering in the corner with her tail between her legs and practically afraid of her own shadow. She had no fur, and her cracked and irritated skin was causing her great pain. The street dog was suffering from skin infections and mange in addition to crippling fear.
The medical clinic veterinarians at Harbison’s Happy Doggo sanctuary prescribed Sienna medication, special baths, and plenty of nutritious food. The animal advocate and his team gave Sienna lots of gentle care and attention, and she slowly started to trust.
Sienna’s Special Day
The Happy Doggo founder often takes his rescue dogs on a beach field trip once they are healthy and back on their paws. Sienna was finally ready for her special excursion.
“For 10 weeks I’ve promised her a beach trip when she was better,” Harbison shared in the onscreen text. “Today was that day.”
The video featured Sienna restored to good health, running happily on the beach wearing a bright blue bandana. Harbison was surprised at the quick recovery the canine cutie made.
“Genuinely thought maybe 6 months at the very best,” he wrote in the caption. “But here is Sienna, just 10 weeks later, looking like a whole new dog.”

The sheer joy on Sienna’s face made the moment even more special. It was like she was experiencing the good things in life for the very first time.
“She couldn’t believe the smells, sounds, and sand between her paws,” the story continued. “This beautiful mum will now have the life she always deserved.”
Thanks to Harbison and his team, this brave fur baby is now enjoying lots of love, security, and affection.
Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina.
